Whole Wheat Bread
Whole Wheat Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 tbsp. dry yeast, 1 c. warm water, 1 tbsp. sugar, 2 c. warm water and 1/2 c. honey, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.

Stir yeast, 1 cup water and sugar in small bowl and let stand 5 minutes.
In large bowl, put 2 cups water, honey, shortening and salt.
Stir until shortening is melted.
Beat in white flour.
Add whole wheat flour or enough to make moderately stiff dough.
Turn out on a floured surface.
Knead until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.
Shape into ball.
Place in greased bowl.
Turn to grease surface.
Cover and let rise in warm place until doubled in size. Punch down.
Shape into loaves.
Put in pans.
Let rise until doubled.
Bake at 375Β° for 45 minutes.
Cover with foil last 20 minutes if overbrowning.
Makes 2 loaves.
