Swedish Meatballs
Swedish Meatballs is an impressive dinner. Made with 1 lb. ground beef, 3/4 c. dry bread crumbs, 1 egg, 1 tsp. salt and 1/4 tsp. pepper, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Mix beef, pork, bread crumbs, milk, egg, onion, salt, nutmeg and pepper.
Shape mixture into 1-inch balls.
Place meatballs on ungreased 10 x 15 x 1-inch jelly roll pan.
Bake uncovered in preheated 350Β° oven for about 20 minutes.
Remove meatballs; keep warm.
Place 3 tablespoons pan drippings in saucepan; stir in flour.
Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is smooth and bubbly.
Remove from heat.
Stir in water, half and half and beef base or bouillon.
Heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
Boil and stir 1 minute.
Pour gravy over meatballs.
