Sift 1/2 cup sugar and flour together; add butter and cream together.

Add beaten egg yolks and set aside.

Beat 1 cup sweet milk to boiling point; set aside.

Burn second 1/2 cup sugar in skillet with enough water to moisten sugar.

Cook until golden brown.

Add burnt sugar to hot milk.

Stir until all burnt sugar is dissolved.

Add small amount of hot milk to creamed mixture, then add all of creamed mixture to milk and burnt sugar mixture. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla.

Pour into unbaked pie shell and bake at 350Β° until set.

Beat the egg whites until stiff; add 1/4 cup sugar and beat well until sugar is dissolved.

Spread over pie and brown in the oven.

This pie will melt in your mouth.
