Boiled Icing
Boiled Icing is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/2 c. sugar, divided, 3/4 c. water, 1 tbsp. light corn syrup, 2 egg whites and 1/8 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Reserve 2 tablespoons sugar.
Combine remaining sugar, water and corn syrup in a heavy pan.
Cook over medium heat, stirring to soft ball stage (240Β°).
Remove from heat.
Quickly beat egg whites and salt until soft peaks form, gradually add reserved sugar, beat until blended.
Continue to beat, slowly adding syrup mixture.
Add vanilla and beat until stiff peaks form and frosting is thick.
