Zeese Challah *
Zeese Challah * is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 pkg. active dry yeast, 4 tsp. salt, 3/4 c. honey, 1 3/4 c. hot water (about 125~) and 2 c. unbleached white enriched flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Measure yeast, salt, honey and hot water into large bowl and stir.
Mix in 2 cups flour, oil and eggs.
Add 4 more cups flour, 1 cup at a time; beat each cup in well with wooden spoon. Sprinkle 1/4 cup flour onto clean hard surface.
Knead in enough remaining flour to make dough silky and resilient, but still soft, 8 to 10 minutes.
Additional kneading after silky state.
Place dough into bowl with 1 tablespoon oil; turn to oil all sides.
