Swedish Meatballs
Swedish Meatballs is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 lb. lean beef, 1/4 lb. salt pork, 5 slices whole wheat bread, 1 egg, slightly beaten and 1 tsp. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Preheat the oven to 325Β°.
Grind the beef, salt pork, and bread together twice using a meat grinder or food processor. Combine with the egg, sugar, allspice, nutmeg, salt and pepper. Shape into 1 inch balls.
Melt the shortening in a skillet and brown the meatballs.
Transfer to a shallow casserole, pour on the beef broth, cover with foil, and bake for 45 minutes.
Add the cream and cook without a cover for 15 minutes more.
