Serbian Bread
Serbian Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 pkg. dry yeast ( or 1 large fresh cake yeast), 2 c. lukewarm water, 1/4 c. oil or soft crisco, 1/4 c. sugar and 1 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.
Add oil or shortening.
Add sugar, salt and gradually add flour until it forms a soft dough. Knead mixture until smooth and elastic; turn into lightly oiled bowl.
Cover and allow to rise 1 1/2 hours.
Punch down; form into 2 loaves, in bread pans or one large loaf and place in greased pans.
Place loaves in middle of preheated 400° oven and bake 10 minutes, then reduce to 350° and bake 20 to 25 minutes or until nicely browned.
Remove onto cooling rack.
