Potatoes Au Gratin
Potatoes Au Gratin is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 to 1 1/4 lb. peeled potatoes, 3 tbsp. unsalted butter, salt, freshly ground pepper and freshly grated nutmeg, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Preheat oven to 300Β°.
Cut potatoes into 1/8-inch thick slices and soak in cold water.
Drain and dry the potatoes on paper towels.
Use 1 tablespoon butter to grease a shallow 2-quart baking dish.
Spread half the potatoes in the bottom of the dish. Season to taste with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
Sprinkle with half the cheese.
Dot with 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces. Arrange remaining potato slices on top.
Sprinkle with seasonings and remaining cheese.
Pour cream over surface and dot with remaining 1 tablespoon butter.
Bake until potatoes are creamy and top is golden brown, about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
