Old-Fashioned Split Pea Soup
Old-Fashioned Split Pea Soup is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 lb. (2 1/4 c.) green split peas, 2 1/2 qt. water, 1 meaty ham bone, 1 1/2 c. sliced onions and 1/2 tsp. pepper, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
In a large kettle, combine peas, water, ham bone, onions and seasonings.
Simmer, covered, for 2 hours.
Remove bone, cut off bits of meat and return to soup along with celery, carrots, potatoes and remaining seasonings.
Cook 45 minutes.
Serve with French bread.
