Flour Tortillas
Flour Tortillas is an easy dinner. Made with 5 c. self-rising flour, 5 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 c. crisco shortening and 1 1/2 c. (more or less) boiling water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.

Work together with fingers until mealy, like pie crust.
Add boiling water, approximately 1 1/2 cups.
Stir until it's cool enough to use hands to mix.
Add more water until it looks like bread dough.
Knead in bowl, adding more flour as needed.
Cover with towel to rest and rise, 1/2 to 1 hour.
Separate into pieces about the size of a plum.
Roll dough (room temperature) and cook on hot iron skillet, 30 to 45 seconds on each side.
Keep tortillas warm between towels until all are cooked.
