English Almond Toffee
English Almond Toffee is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/3 c. oleo, 1 c. sugar, 2/3 c. water, 1 tsp. salt and 1 1/3 c. blanched almonds, slivered, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

Cook butter, sugar, water and salt over low heat, stirring constantly until it boils.
Cook without stirring to 236° or until a little dropped in cold water forms a soft ball.
Add almonds. Continue cooking to 290° (soft crack stage), stirring constantly. Remove from heat.
Mixture turns to a deep caramel color.
Stir in soda.
Turn out onto greased baking sheet to 1/4-inch thickness. Immediately spread with chocolate pieces.
Spread chocolate as it melts; sprinkle with pecans.
