Dolmadesstuffed Vine Leaves
Dolmadesstuffed Vine Leaves is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 can or jar of grape leaves, 1 cup, uncooked rice, 12 leaves of mint, chopped (parsley will do), 1 lb. hamburger or ground turkey and 1/2 cup, canned tomatoes, crushed, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Mix rice, mint, meat, tomatoes, onion and salt and pepper; place a small amount (about the size of a pecan) on each grape leaf and roll up.
(Keep in mind that rice will swell when cooked.)
Place in pan with 6 to 8 open leaves on top to prevent stuffed leaves from drying out.
Cover with water, oil and lemon juice.
Cover and cook over low heat for 45 to 60 minutes.
Crock pots work well but take longer cooking time.
Stuffing can also be used for peppers and tomatoes.
Serve as hor's D'oeuvers or vegetable dish.
Goes good with a light lemon sauce.
