Black Beans
Black Beans is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 lb. black beans, 1 (no. 1) small bottle olive oil, 5 onions, 2 green peppers and 6 slices bacon, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Before cooking, wash beans and soak 4 to 5 hours.
Water should cover beans by 1 1/2 inches.
Add 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 onion and 1 green pepper to beans.
After soaking, bring beans to boil uncovered.
When boiling, add bacon.
Cover and lower to medium heat for 1 hour.
Add sauce and lower heat to simmer for an additional hour or until slightly thickened.
Along with sauce add bay leaf, black pepper, 1 tablespoon salt and apple (sliced).
