English Muffin Bread
English Muffin Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 pkg. dry yeast, 3 c. flour, 1 1/4 c. water, 1 tbsp. sugar and 1/2 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Combine yeast and 1 cup flour in large bowl.
Heat water, sugar and salt until just warm.
Add to dry mixture.
Beat on low speed 1/2 minute, scraping sides of bowl.
Beat 3 minutes on high.
By hand, stir in remaining flour to make soft dough.
Place in greased bowl, turn and grease surface.
Cover, let rise until double, about 1 hour.
Punch down; let rest 10 minutes.
Grease 1 1/2-quart casserole and sprinkle with corn meal.
Knead bread.
Put in casserole dish in warmed oven.
Let rise until doubled, 40 to 60 minutes.
Bake in hot oven (400Β°) 30 to 40 minutes.
