Creamy Cabbage Casserole
Creamy Cabbage Casserole is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 medium cabbage, chopped coarsely, 3 tbsp. butter or oleo, 1/4 c. all-purpose flour, 1/2 c. milk and 1 c. whipping cream, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Cook cabbage, covered, 10 minutes in a small amount of boiling salted water.
Drain well; set aside.
Melt 3 tablespoons oleo in a heavy saucepan over low heat; add flour, stirring until smooth. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly. Stir in salt, pepper and nutmeg.
Add cabbage to white sauce, mixing well; spoon into a buttered 1 1/2-quart casserole. Sprinkle with cheese; top with bread crumbs and drizzle with 2 tablespoons melted butter.
Bake at 375Β° for 20 minutes.
