Heat oil in saucepan over medium heat.

Add onion and garlic; sautΓ© until tender, about 8 minutes.

Add chili sauce, beer, molasses, vinegar, bourbon and Worcestershire sauce.

Simmer until reduced to 2 cups, stirring occasionally, about 25 minutes.

Stir in hot pepper sauce.

Brush on during the last 10 minutes of grilling.

If making ribs, brush them often during the first part of cooking with a mixture of one part cider vinegar to 10 parts of water and a pinch of dried crushed red pepper; that will keep them moist (covers 3 pounds of meat).
