Bierocks(German Dish)
Bierocks are golden stuffed rolls filled with browned beef, cabbage, onion, and warm allspice. This shortcut version uses crescent or dinner-roll dough, with optional cheese tucked inside before the pockets bake until sealed and glossy.
Brown the hamburger meat with the chopped onion in a skillet.
Add the cabbage, allspice, salt, and pepper and cook until the cabbage is tender.
Separate crescent dough into rectangles on an ungreased baking sheet and press the center perforations together.
Spoon about 1/2 cup filling onto one half of each rectangle.
Add cheese if desired, then fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges.
Bake at 375 F for 12 to 18 minutes, until the bierocks are golden brown.
