Beef in Beer
Beef In Beer is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/2 lb. stew beef (1-inch cubes), 8 oz. diced bacon, 2 large sliced onions, 1 or 2 chopped leeks (including some of the green part) and 1 pt. beer, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Fry bacon pieces in large pan.
Leave bacon in pan.
Add beef and brown in bacon drippings.
Add onion and leeks and lightly brown.
Stir in a little flour.
Add beer, stirring constantly. If necessary, add water to cover meat.
Season with salt, pepper and mixed salad herbs.
Add carrots and bring to a boil.
Simmer gently for 2 1/2 hours or until beef is tender.
(Can be cooked in a moderate oven, 350Β°, in covered dish for 2 1/2 hours.)
Serve with mashed potatoes or noodles.
Sprinkle with chopped parsley (optional).
