Prince Of Wales Cake(Dates From 1860'S) is an impressive dinner. Made with 6 eggs, 1/2 lb. butter, 1 lb. flour, 2 tsp. baking powder and 1 c. cold water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Beat 6 eggs very lightly and add them to 1/2 pound of butter. Work until light.
Beat all together until light and gradually put in 1 pound of flour containing 2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1 cup water.
Stir into the batter one teaspoon each of the ground cinnamon, allspice, cloves and nutmeg.
Cut into small pieces the 1/2 pound of citron and 1 pound of seedless raisins.
Wash and dry one pound currants.
Stir into the batter and bake in a quicker oven than necessary for other cakes, covering the top to prevent burning.
Bake until done.
