Parker House Rolls
Parker House Rolls is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. lukewarm water, 1 cake or pkg. yeast, 1 c. milk, 6 tbsp. shortening and 6 tbsp. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Heat oven to 350°.
Put package of yeast in the cup of lukewarm water.
Combine milk, shortening, sugar and salt.
Heat on stove until milk is scalded.
Cool this mixture; add egg and 1 cup flour to make a soft dough, then add yeast mixture and remaining flour. Mix, then turn onto floured board.
Knead and press out to about 1/2 inch thick; cut into 3 inch circles and sprinkle with melted oleo.
Turn in half and press together.
Let rise until doubled. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes.
Grease tops with oleo when taken from oven.
