Mystery Bread
Mystery Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 3/4 c. water, 1/2 c. corn meal, 2 tsp. salt, 1/2 c. molasses and 2 tbsp. shortening, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Combine water, corn meal and salt.
Bring to boil, stirring constantly.
Cool until thick.
Add molasses and shortening.
Cool until lukewarm.
Soften yeast in warm water in mixing bowl; add mush and blend well.
Add flour gradually to form stiff dough. Knead until satiny, about 5 minutes.
Place in greased bowl, turning to grease all sides.
Cover; let rise in warm place until double, about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
Place dough on surface covered with corn meal.
Work down and divide into 2 portions.
Place in greased baking dishes.
Cover and let rise until double.
Bake at 350Β° for 45 to 55 minutes.
Makes 2 loaves.
