Mother's Burnt Sugar Pie
Mother'S Burnt Sugar Pie is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. sugar (set aside to burn), 3 egg yolks, beaten well, 2 c. milk, 3 tbsp. plain flour and 1/3 c. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Combine egg yolks and milk.
Mix flour with 1/3 cup sugar and add to egg mixture a little at a time.
Set aside.
Burn the cup of sugar (in an iron skillet if possible) to a very dark brown, but do not scorch.
When sugar is ready, add egg mixture and cook until thick.
Cool a little, then add butter and vanilla.
Have crust cooked and cooled ahead of time.
Top with egg whites.
