Meringues
Meringues is an easy dinner. Made with 2 egg whites at room temperature, 1/8 tsp. cream of tartar, 1/2 c. sugar, 1/2 tsp. flavoring (vanilla or almond) or 1/8 tsp. coconut flavoring and 1/2 c. coarsely chopped nuts or pecan halves, placed on top of meringues, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Beat egg whites with cream of tartar until stiff but not dry. Add sugar 2 tablespoons at a time, beating constantly.
Add flavoring and nuts.
Line cookie sheet with foil or brown paper. Drop meringues by rounded teaspoons or larger if desired.
Bake at 275Β° for 45 to 50 minutes.
Meringues should be slightly browned. Remove from oven and place meringues on rack to cool.
