Meltaways is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 (8 oz.) pkg. creamed cottage cheese, 1 c. (1/2 lb.) butter or margarine, 2 c. sifted all purpose flour, 1/4 c. butter or margarine, melted and 3/4 c. light brown sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. In medium bowl, with pastry fork, blend cottage cheese with 1 cup butter. Sift in flour, then blend until dough forms a ball (can use your hands for this).

Start heating oven to 400Β°.

Grease 3 cookie sheets. Divide dough in thirds.

On lightly floured, cloth covered board, roll out 1/3 of dough 1/8 inch thick and circular in shape. Brush with some of melted butter.

Sprinkle with 1/4 cup brown sugar, a little cinnamon and 1/4 cup of chopped walnuts.

Cut circle into 16 pie shaped wedges.

Beginning at outer edge, roll up each piece tightly, then place point side down on cookie sheet. Repeat with rest of pieces. Beat egg yolk with water then use to brush tops of cookies.

Bake about 20 minutes or until golden. Repeat with other 2/3 of dough.
