Irish Soda Bread
Irish Soda Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. unsifted flour, 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder, 3/4 tsp. baking soda, 1 tsp. salt and 4 tbsp. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Combine flour, soda, powder, 3 tablespoons sugar and caraway seed.
Add shortening, cut until shortening is in fine pieces. Make a well in center of flour mixture.
Pour buttermilk and add raisins, mix lightly.
Turn out on floured board and knead gently. Shape into 5-inch round loaf and place in greased 8 or 9-inch pan.
Using knife, cut dough crosswise into quarters about 1/3 the way through.
Brush with melted butter, sprinkle with cinnamon and remaining sugar.
Bake at 375Β° for 35 to 45 minutes.
