Homemade Bread
Homemade Bread is an moderately easy baked good you can prepare in about 1 hour 16 minutes. Made with c. warm water, . dry yeast, c. sugar, . salt and c. shortening, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Dissolve yeast in warm water; add sugar, salt, shortening and stir until sugar and salt are dissolved.
Stir in flour and mix until all is well blended.
Turn out on a floured surface and knead well, about 5 minutes.
Place in a greased pan, covered with a cloth, for 1 hour over a pan of warm (not hot) water and let rise until double in bulk.
Knead down again; place over warm water again for about 30 minutes.
Mold into desired shape.
Let rise for about 45 minutes.
Bake at 350Β° for about 30 minutes or until done. Yields about 24 large or 36 small rolls or 2 loaves.
