Golden Raisin Bread
Golden Raisin Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. golden raisins (i use more), 1 3/4 c. water, 1/3 c. shortening, 2 pkg. yeast and 1/3 c. brown sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Combine raisins, shortening and 1 1/4 cups water.
Heat to boiling, stirring until shortening melts.
Cool to lukewarm. Soften yeast in remaining 1/2 cup water.
Add sugar, salt, spices and 1 cup flour.
Mix well.
Add raisin mixture.
Gradually add remainder of flour.
Knead 3 minutes.
Brush dough with oil. Cover; let rise in bowl until double, about 1 3/4 hours.
Punch down.
Shape into 2 medium loaves.
Brush top with oil.
Let rise until double (45 minutes).
Bake at 375Β° for 40 minutes.
