French Onion Soup
French Onion Soup is an impressive dinner. Made with 5 c. thinly sliced onions (1 1/2 lb.), 3 tbsp. butter, 1 tbsp. vegetable oil, 1 tsp. salt and 1/4 tsp. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Bursting with flavor in every bite.

Cook onions slowly with butter and oil in heavy covered 4-quart saucepan for 15 minutes.
Stir in salt and sugar.
Cook, uncovered, over moderate heat, 35 to 40 minutes, stirring often until onions are a deep golden brown.
Sprinkle with flour; stir 3 minutes.
Remove from heat; add boiling bouillon and water to onion mixture.
Blend well.
Add wine and seasonings.
Simmer partially covered, 35 minutes.
While soup is simmering, place 1 layer of French bread slices on cookie sheet and bake at 325Β° for 30 minutes or until they are dried and golden brown.
