English Muffin Bread
English Muffin Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 5 to 6 c. unsifted plain flour, 1/2 c. whole wheat flour, 2 pkg. yeast (i usually use 3 pkg.), 1 tbsp. sugar and 2 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

Combine 3 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt and soda.
Heat milk and water until very warm (120° to 130°) and add to dry ingredients, beating well.
Add 1 cup whole wheat flour and then add remaining 2 to 3 cups flour to make a stiff batter.
Spoon or spatula into 2 loaf pans that have been greased with Crisco and lightly sprinkled with cornmeal.
Then sprinkle cornmeal on top of the loaves.
Let rise in a warm place about 30 minutes or until dough is near the top of the baking pans.
Bake 22 minutes at 400°.
