Carbonnades Flamanndes(Flemish Beef Stew) is an impressive dinner. Made with 4 lb. beef cubes, flour, 3/4 c. butter, 8 onions, sliced and 4 cloves garlic, crushed, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Dredge meat in flour and brown in 1/2 butter in heavy skillet or Dutch oven.
Sprinkle 1/2 cup more flour over meat, mix well. In a separate skillet, saute garlic, onions and butter remaining. Combine meat in large casserole.
Add remaining ingredients except vinegar.
Cover and bake at 325Β° for 2 hours or until tender.
Stir occasionally.
Add vinegar shortly before serving with noodles or rice.
Can be cooked in Dutch oven on top of stove, covered.
