Candied Orange Peel
Candied Orange Peel is an easy dinner. Made with 3 large oranges, 3/4 c water, 2 tbsp light corn syrup and 2 3/4 c sugar, divided, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Cut the peel on each orange into quarters then remove the peel in sections.
Slice peel in thin strips.
Place orange peels in a non aluminum saucepan with enough water to cover the peels.
Cover pan and bring to a boil.
Cook for 15 min.
Drain peels in a colander.
Boil water, syrup and 2 c sugar in saucepan, stirring until sugar is dissolved.
Simmer, stirring occasionally, 35 to 55 min, or until peels are translucent and tender.
Remove the peels with a slotted spoon to a large rack placed over a baking pan.
Let drain and dry about 5 min or till tacky.
Place the remaining 3/4 c sugar in a large bowl.
Add the peels and coat with sugar.
Return sugar coated peels to rack to dry, about 2 hours.
Store in an air tight container for up to 1 month.
Can also be frozen.
