Basic Pie Crust
Basic Pie Crust is an easy dinner. Made with 1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/3 c. shortening and 2 to 4 tbsp. ice water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Combine flour and salt in bowl of food processor fitted with steel blade. Pulse 2 or 3 times just to aerate. Add the shortening. Pulse rapidly until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Stop the processor. Add the water, starting with 2 tablespoons and adding more as needed until mixture forms a ball.
Form the dough into a disk about 4 or 5 inches in diameter. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
