Baked Onion Custard
Baked Onion Custard is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/4 c. peanut oil, 4 c. chopped onion, 1 c. light cream, 2 eggs and 1 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Heat oil in a large skillet.
Add onion and 1/4 cup cream. Cook over low heat until onions are tender (5 minutes).
Measure 1/4 cup onion mixture into 9 (5 ounce) custard cups.
Beat eggs, remaining cream, salt and pepper until light.
Pour an equal amount (2 1/2 tablespoons) over each cup of onions and sprinkle with bread crumbs.
Set custard cups in a pan of hot water and bake in a preheated oven at 350Β° for 25 to 30 minutes or when custard is "set" or firm.
You may use one larger baking dish, but cooking time will be longer.
Serve hot.
