Apple Chutney(Sauce)
Apple Chutney(Sauce) is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. golden raisins, 1/2 c. regular raisins, 1/2 c. dry white wine or sherry, 6 medium-size red delicious or rome apples, peeled, cored, quartered and chopped fine and 1/2 c. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Soak regular raisins in wine for an hour or so.
Drain and set aside.
Combine apples, sugar, margarine, drained wine, lemon juice, nutmeg and cinnamon in a large saucepan.
Place over medium heat.
Bring to boil, stirring constantly.
Reduce heat and simmer for 30 to 35 minutes until thickened.
Stir in raisins and cook 1 more minute until heated through.
Serve with pork, chicken, turkey or ham.
Yields 3 1/2 cups.
