Tortiere (Pork Pie)
Tortiere (Pork Pie) is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 large potatoes, peeled, 1 lb. ground pork, 1/2 cup finely chopped onion, 1/2 cup beef broth and 1 clove garlic, minced, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Bursting with flavor in every bite.
Cut up potatoes, cook in boiling water 20 minutes.
Drain and mash.
Brown pork and drain off fat.
Stir in next 6 ingredients, 1/2 tsp. salt and 1/4 tsp. pepper.
Cover and simmer 20 minutes, stirring often.
Discard bay leaf, stir in potatoes and let cool. Roll half the pastry into a 12 inch circle.
Line a 9 inch pie pan. Trim even with rim, fill with meat mixture.
Roll remaining dough, slit.
Place on top of filling and trim to 1/2 inch beyond rim. Seal, flute and bake at 400Β° for 30 minutes.
