Sweet Pickles
Sweet Pickles is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 gal. cucumbers, cut up, salt water (strong enough to float an egg, about 1 c.), 1 oz. alum, 1 qt. sugar and 1 qt. vinegar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Packed with nutrients and delicious flavors.

Soak cucumbers in salt water for 1 week.
Wash cucumbers and put back in jar.
Add alum.
Cover with scalding water and leave overnight.
Wash pickles again.
Heat one time the sugar, vinegar, spice and celery seed.
Pour over cucumbers and let stand 3 days, adding 1 cup sugar each day.
(These pickles do not have to be sealed.
I usually put a lid or tinfoil over mine.)
