Sweet and Sour Sauerkraut
Sweet And Sour Sauerkraut is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/4 c. butter, 1 large onion, 2 sour apples, peeled and cut in 1/2-inch dice, 1 (32 oz.) bag sauerkraut, rinsed and drained and 1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes (undrained), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Preheat oven to 325Β°.
Melt butter in large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add onion and apples; saute until softened, 3 to 8 minutes.
Combine onion and apples with sauerkraut in large mixing bowl.
Stir in tomatoes, brown sugar and wine.
Season with caraway seed and black pepper.
Transfer mixture to a 13 x 9-inch baking dish.
Cover tightly with foil.
Bake 1 hour.
Uncover and bake another 1/2 hour.
Serve as a side dish.
