Swedish Tea Ring
Swedish Tea Ring is an impressive dinner. Made with 1 c. scalded milk, 1/4 c. shortening, 1/4 c. sugar, 3/4 tsp. salt and 1 cake compressed yeast, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

Add shortening, sugar and salt to scalded milk.
When cooled to lukewarm, add yeast and half the flour and beat well.
Let rise until light in a warm, draft-free place.
Add egg and remaining flour.
Mix well and let rise.
Roll dough into oblong strip about 1/4-inch thick and 13 x 9 inches.
Spread with melted butter, brown sugar, nuts and raisins.
Roll up like a jelly roll and form into a ring on a greased baking sheet.
With scissors make cuts two-thirds of the way through ring at 2-inch intervals.
Turn each cut section on its side.
Cover and let rise until double in bulk.
Bake about 30 minutes in hot oven (375Β°).
Frost while hot with a thin icing made by combining the milk and confectioners sugar.
