Shrimp Creole
Shrimp Creole is an impressive American dinner you can prepare in about 1 hour 42 minutes. Made with . shrimp, shelled, c. green pepper, chopped, c. chopped celery, c. chopped onion and c. parsley, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Cook shrimp according to directions but reserve 1 cup liquid. Fry bacon until crisp.
Saute onions, peppers, celery, garlic and parsley in skillet until tender.
(Do not add bacon at this time; drain and reserve until later.)
Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, reserved shrimp liquid, red pepper, black pepper, salt, sugar and bay leaf to ingredients that are sauteed.
Bring to boil.
Reduce heat and simmer covered 30 minutes.
Add shrimp and bacon (crumbled).
Bring to a boil; simmer 5 minutes.
Serve over rice. Serves 4 to 5 adults.
