Red Cabbage
Red Cabbage is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 head grated red cabbage, 1 bay leaf, 1 tart apple, peeled and sliced thin, 1 tbsp. raspberry syrup or regular syrup and 1 minced onion, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Brown onion lightly in 2 tablespoons oil, mixed with 1 tablespoon oleo and grated cabbage.
Add about 1 cup water, bay leaf, cloves and vinegar.
Let simmer for 30 minutes, then add apple-syrup, salt-pepper and wine.
Let simmer for 30 more minutes.
Freezes well and tastes best when reheated.
