Preheat oven to 400Β°.
Grease well a 10-inch iron skillet or 9 x 9-inch baking pan.
Mix together cornmeal, baking powder, baking soda, salt and sugar until well combined.
In separate bowl, mix together buttermilk, beaten eggs and drippings (or butter).
Add liquid mixture to dry ingredients.
Stir until dry ingredients are just moistened.
Pour batter into skillet or pan and bake 30 to 35 minutes or until lightly brown.
