Mushroom Surprise
Mushroom Surprise is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 to 1 lb. fresh mushrooms, butter, 3 slices white bread, 1/2 c. each: chopped celery, onion, green pepper and mayonnaise and 3/4 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

Saute mushrooms, coarsely sliced, in butter, just enough to smell like mushrooms.
Butter 3 slices white bread, cut in 1-inch squares and line casserole.
Combine mushrooms with 1/2 cup each: chopped celery, onion, green pepper and mayonnaise, 3/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper and 3 more slices of buttered bread. Pour eggs, slightly beaten with milk.
Refrigerate 1 hour or overnight.
One hour before serving, spoon a can of undiluted mushroom soup over it.
Bake at 300° for 60 to 70 minutes or at 325° for 50 to 60 minutes.
About 10 minutes before it's done, sprinkle grated yellow cheese on top.
