Mother's Custard
Mother'S Custard is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 c. milk, 3 eggs, 1/3 c. sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla and 1 tbsp. flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Separate eggs, putting yolks in a saucepan.
Add sugar, milk, salt and flour.
Stir and cook until mixture comes to a beginning boil.
Remove from stove; add vanilla and let cool.
Whip egg whites until stiff, adding 3 tablespoons of sugar in 3 parts. Fold cool mixture into stiff egg whites.
Cover and put into refrigerator.
Sprinkle with nutmeg when serving.
Makes 8 servings.
