Peel and core apples and stew them in a very small quantity of water until they are tender and pulpy.

Cut up tomatoes; chop onions and garlic.

(Put through the coarse blade of food grinder.)

Add to apples.

Add sugar.

Tie the mustard seed in muslin and add to the mixture, along with spices and seasoning. Add the vinegar and cook gently for about 2 hours or until mixture is of required consistency.

Put into jars and seal.

Use water bath.

Makes about 4 1/2 pints.
