Marjorie's Bread
Marjorie'S Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 1/2 lb. flour (4 c.=1 lb.), 2 pkg. yeast, 1 stick margarine (rub 1/2 into flour for making bread and melt the other 1/2 for brushing on loaves when done), 1 tbsp. salt and 2 tbsp. sugar (1 tbsp. used in proofing yeast and 1 tbsp. goes into bread dough, mixed with flour), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Activate yeast in 1 cup warm water and 1 tablespoon sugar. Stir good and let sit 10 to 12 minutes to dissolve.
It will foam up.
Rub 12 cups of flour and 1/2 stick of butter and 1 tablespoon salt and 1 tablespoon sugar until butter is rubbed into flour well. Make a well in center.
Add yeast mixture.
Stir in a little.
Add 3 1/2 cups warm water and mix.
Knead in pan 10 to 12 minutes adding flour underneath and turning.
Oil bottom of pan and turn dough so it is oiled top and bottom.
Cover and set aside in a warm, draft free place to rise until doubled (45 minutes to 1 hour).
Turn out onto floured board and divide into 4 pieces. Shape into loaves or buns.
Let rise until double in bulk.
Bake in oven at 400Β° for 30 to 45 minutes.

Makes 4 regular loaves.
