Ma-Ma's Gingerbread
Ma-Ma'S Gingerbread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 1/2 c. sifted plain flour, 1 1/2 tsp. soda, 1 tsp. ground ginger, 1 tsp. ground cinnamon and 1/2 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Sift flour, soda, ginger, cinnamon and salt onto waxed paper. Cream shortening with sugar until fluffy in a large bowl.
Beat in molasses and egg.
Stir in flour mixture, half at a time, just until blended.
Beat in hot water until smooth.
Pour into a well-greased pan.
Bake at 350Β° for 30 minutes or until center springs back when lightly touched.
Leave in pan on rack to cool 10 minutes.
Serve warm or cold.
