Homemade Rolls
Homemade Rolls is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 5 c. flour (i have better results with self-rising), 2 tsp. salt (leave off if using self-rising flour), 1 heaping tbsp. sugar, 3 level tbsp. shortening and 1/2 c. milk, scalded and cooled, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.

Dissolve the yeast in warm water; add the scalded, cooled milk. Sift 2 1/2 cups flour in bowl; add sugar and salt (if using plain flour).
Cut in shortening.
Add the yeast mixture; beat vigorously until smooth and bubbly.
Add rest of flour, making a firm dough easily handled without sticking.
Mold as desired.
Let stand in a warm place until double in bulk, which should be about 30 to 40 minutes.
Bake in medium oven (400Β°) for 20 minutes or until brown. Um-Um-m-m-m-m- Good!
