Homemade Bread
Homemade Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 pkg. dry yeast (red star), 1/4 c. warm water, 2 c. whole milk, scalded, 2 tbsp. sugar and 2 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Soften yeast in warm water.
Combine milk, sugar, salt and shortening.
Add 2 cups flour; stir well.
Now add softened yeast. Add rest of flour until stiff.
Knead 8 minutes; let rise until double in large greased bowl, about 1 1/2 hours.
Keep top of bread greased, then punch down; let rise again until double, about 45 minutes.
Divide into 2 equal parts; shape into loaves.
Let rise again until doubled.
Bake in a 350Β° oven until done, approximately 30 minutes.
