In a large mixing bowl cream the butter, shortening and brown sugar.

Add eggs one at a time beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder and salt and gradually add to the creamed mixture.

Stir in remaining ingredients.

Shape into three 10 inch rolls. Wrap in plastic wrap.

Refrigerate for two hours or until firm.

Unwrap and cut into 1/4 inch slices.

Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets and bake at 375Β° for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to wire racks to cool. Makes 7 dozen.
