Fresh Turnip Greens
Fresh Turnip Greens is an easy dinner. Made with 1 large bunch turnip greens, salt to taste (2 tbsp.), 2 tbsp. sugar, 1 or 2 slices ham and 1/4 c. bacon drippings, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Check leaves carefully. Remove stems if large. Wash 5 or 6 times in changes of warm water.
Put into heavy saucepan with tight lid (rather have pressure cooker, 10 pounds pressure, for 20 minutes).
Add washed greens, few at a time.
Cover with ham, drippings, salt and sugar.
Cook until tender. Serve with hot pepper sauce.
